Banking for newbies: First steps and common pitfalls
Just got my temporary residency. Now I need to sort out banking. Any recommendations for banks that are good for foreigners? What are the usual first steps and things to watch out for?
Hey, congrats on the residency! For banks, I'd look into Banorte or HSBC. They tend to be pretty foreigner-friendly. Just be ready to bring your RFC and CURP. It can take a bit to get it all set up.
Thanks, Diego! Banorte and HSBC are good calls. I've heard similar things. My RFC and CURP are ready to go. Hopefully, it won't take too long to get everything sorted.
Yeah, fingers crossed it's quick for you, Maria! Having the RFC and CURP ready is a huge step. It's always a bit of a waiting game with banks here. Good luck with it all!
Good tips, Diego! Banorte and HSBC are solid choices. I had good luck with Banorte myself. Just remember, they'll definitely want that RFC and CURP. It's the usual drill.
Haha, totally! RFC and CURP are like the VIP pass for everything. Glad Banorte worked out well for you! Fingers crossed it's the same for the rest of us.

Haha, yeah, the RFC and CURP. Totally. It's like their favorite duo. Banorte was pretty smooth for me. Hope it is for everyone else too!
