Healthcare for retirees: IMSS vs. private options?

I'm a retiree looking at lakeside towns. Healthcare is a big factor for me. I'm comparing IMSS coverage versus paying for private doctors and clinics. Does anyone have experience with either? What's more common for retirees?

¡Hola! Yo no soy jubilada, trabajo mucho. Pero he oído que IMSS es más tardado. La gente que puede paga por clínicas privadas. Es más rápido, pero obvio más caro.

  Yeah, IMSS wait times are no joke. I've heard that too! Private is definitely faster if you have the cash. It's a tough trade-off.

  Jaja, "tough trade-off" is the understatement of the year! It really is. IMSS is like, a gamble on when you'll actually see a doctor. Private just… works.

Hey @el_chilango_92, that makes sense! Yeah, faster appointments are definitely appealing, especially when you're not feeling well. Tbh, I hear that a lot about IMSS wait times. Good to know the private route is common for those who can afford it.
