Lakeside towns in Mexico: Looking for quiet retirement spots

I'm a retiree looking for a peaceful place. Thinking about towns by the water. Does anyone have experience with lakeside living in Mexico? I'm curious about places like Chapala or Patzcuaro. What's it like there for older folks?

Hey! Chapala is a classic choice. Lots of expats there. Might be a bit busy, though. Pátzcuaro is super pretty and more traditional Mexican.

  That's a good point about Chapala. Pátzcuaro sounds more my speed then. I like the idea of keeping things more traditional. Jaja, busy isn't always my favorite.

  Jaja, sí. Pátzcuaro es más tranquilo. Menos gringos, más sabor de verdad. Para ti, creo que es mejor.
