¿Aprovechar el Puente o Cruzar Fronteras?

Thinking about taking a long weekend trip. Maybe to a beach or a Pueblo Mágico. My temporary residency is still valid. Just wondering if it's easier to stay within Mexico. Or if crossing into the US for a few days is doable. Any tips from people who have done this?
