Newbie banking questions: Best banks for temporary residents?

Hi everyone. I just got my temporary residency here in Mexico City. Now I need to get a bank account. I heard some banks are easier for foreigners. Any recommendations on which banks are good for newbies? Also, are there any common mistakes I should avoid?
