Cancun rental market — is it tough for foreigners?

Hi everyone! I'm starting to look for a place here in Cancun. Renting seems a bit different than back home. Wondering if landlords are hesitant to rent to foreigners? Or is it pretty straightforward?

¡Hola! Pues mira, yo vivo en San Miguel de Allende. Aquí sí he visto que piden más requisitos. A veces piden aval mexicano. No sé cómo sea en Cancún.

Honestly, the guarantor thing in CDMX was wild. Hope Cancun is more chill. I've heard some places ask for a deposit equivalent to several months' rent. That's one thing to watch out for.

OMG the whole aval thing sounds like a nightmare. Haven't run into that in Playa but maybe Cancun is just different. Fingers crossed for you tho!
