Hello! I'm still new to Playa del Carmen. I'm looking for an apartment to rent. Many places ask for a deposit that seems really high to me. Is this standard here? Tbh, I'm a bit worried about it.
¡Hola! Yeah, that deposit can feel huge at first. It's pretty standard here, especially if you don't have a local guarantor. Sometimes you can negotiate a bit. Good luck with the apartment hunt!
The deposit thing is wild, esp when you're new. Here in Mérida too, they want a good chunk, especially if you don't have a local co-signer. Don't be afraid to ask if they can budge a little, you never know. Hope you find a place soon!
Oh wow, it's like that in Mérida too? Here in PDC, I definitely noticed that too when I was looking. They often ask for 2-3 months' rent as a deposit if you're a foreigner without a *fianza* (a rental guarantee). It's a good idea to ask if they'll accept a higher security deposit instead of the full *fianza*!
