Is it weird to use Mexican slang with strangers?

I'm getting pretty comfortable with my Spanish here. I've picked up words like 'wey' and 'chido'. I hear them all the time. But is it okay to use them with people I don't know? Or should I stick to formal speech? Just curious about the vibe.

Honestly, I think it's fine! People use "wey" all the time, even when meeting someone. It feels pretty casual. If you hear it a lot, go for it. Just read the room a bit.
