¿Nombres de perros en México son un meme o qué?

I swear, everywhere I go in CDMX, I hear dogs being called 'Jorge' or 'Maria'. It's hilarious. Am I wrong, or is this a thing here? Maybe it's just my programmer brain overthinking things, jaja.
